Off and running!

We're off!  Our nonstop 14-hour flight from San Francisco to Honk Kong was uneventful, and after a 2-mile jog through the huge airport we (and our baggage) were able to make the tight connection for the flight to Bangkok.
We’ve been reading the newspaper coverage of the "worst flood in 50 years" about to descend on Bangkok, and the work they have been doing to reinforce the 4km of barriers around the airport and bring in huge flood pumps.  So it was eerie to land at 10pm on dry runway with a clear starlit sky and 15 mile visibility.  This morning it's overcast and starting to rain, and our hope is to check out of the airport hotel shortly and take off for Bhutan before the floods and torrential downpours from the north arrive here.  Stay tuned...
